Whiplash
I'm known around these parts for banging the drum.
Be it for music or movies or football or the latest fad, I am Mr Toad incarnate when it comes to the Next Big Thing.

Well, friends, the Next Big Thing is Whiplash.
Whiplash is a film of modest means. Shot over nineteen days, backed by British indie champion Film4 it's story is a simple one.
A student at one of America's top musical Conservertoires is desperate to join the school's award-winning jazz band. His instructor and band leader, played with exquisite precision by JK Simmons, will just about stop short of outright murder in his search for perfection. Fame meets Full Metal Jacket, head-on.

Go and see it. Why?
Because a film about a jazz drummer left me feeling exactly as I did at the end of Gravity.

The harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph

RE: Whiplash
What? You mean it left you feeling that Sandra Bullock was one helluva lucky lady?
Run. Just run.

If it had left me feeling Sandra Bullock I'd still be in the theatre.
No; utterly exhausted.
