Happy chessmas, All.

OK, final line-up:

Andy
BB
MarathonDan
MLCM
Pete W
SP
Sweder

I'm having some trouble getting people invited.

I've invited marathondan through the site as he was already registered.

I've separately mailed sweder and MLCM through the site (several times) but have no idea if the mails have got there.

I've also tried mailing Pete W through the site but it's not registering.

Need to find email addresses for the others.

If you've not received anything please let me know.

Eek

Hattie, looks like we have to pay to join your "specialised tournament". Is this what everyone was expecting? I can humiliate myself in plenty of other ways for free... Smile

NO! You shouldn't have to pay. Don't pay!!

Right, leave it to me. I'll invite myself and see what happens.

I've emailed them to see if there's a way round this. I'm sorry, I didn't realise they'd ask you for money. I'm a member, and thought I could invite people to join a tournament free of charge.

Let's see what they say.

From the site owners:

"hello you can invite all your friends free of charge"

Maybe people should register and allow me to invite them? If you do, let me know your user name.

I finally managed to register with chess **#% world using my dodgiest domain - the others all refused to accept email from them unless I turned the spam filters off. But anyway, I'm in.

I don't think that is quite the same as starting a new tournament, is it?

I'd have thought getting a game of chess started wouldn't be quite so annoyingly tricky.
Run. Just run.

Excellent. I've tracked you down and invited you to join the tournament. Still need to recruit some more though. I'll challenge you to a game in the meantime.

Excellent, BB.

I've just invited you to join the tournament via the site. When you get a chance, log in and see if you have a message about it.

They said this could be done without joining up as a full member. Let me ask them how.

Hmmm, they now seem to be saying that non-members can't join tournaments.

Anyway, I've invited you to a game. I've got one with MLCM and Peterward at the moment.

Would it be too much hassle to just play individual games and manage the league table ourselves? I feel a spreadsheet coming on...

No, that would be fine.

If you join up (without paying) and let me know, I'll invite you for a game. Or of course you could play someone else. I've 3 'friendlies' on the go already against fellow-RC-ers.

We can start a league once these are out of the way. Mind you, that might be a few weeks away.
