April Week 1 - Countdown
If I was Wee Carrot-Top I'd rather be a Hammer than a Snail. Pompey's heyday was several decades earlier than West Ham's, and my trips in the TARDIS revealed nothing but perpetual gloom for the sea-siders. The thing with the Hammers is you feel they could still pull it off in the big time. There's a raft of semi-celebs out there who claim allegiance; Iron Maiden (seriously wealthy rockers), Gary Bushell (seriously off his rocker), Sir Trevor and the like.
Where's Jimmy Pursey when you need him?

...about your silence, Sweder.

Has everything collapsed? Come on mate, you can't stop now....

We've had an invite to the JDRF pasta dinner next Saturday, incidentally, which we're definitely planning to attend.

I'm really pleased you can both make the PP on Saturday.
Apart from having to listen to me warble on for a few minutes there are a couple of people coming along who are worth listening to.
Humphrey Waters is a motivational speaker and marathon veteran. Humph was the psycological driving force behind England's Rugby Union World Cup triumph in 2003. He's working with the Lions this Summer, too. Also Paul Dickinson, former Olympic Hammer thrower and current BBC commentator on athletics in general and the Marathon in particular. He has some excellent bon mots to share with our runners and is always excellent value.

Besides which there will be lashings of cheap plonk and decent Pasta.

The silence is reflective of my lack of running activity. I could write about my carb-loading, but that would seem best suited to a gastronomic forum.

Sunday long run report is on the way.

Hurrah!

But seriously... I'm actually hoping the evening will kick-start my own flagging marathon mood. The opportunity to socialise with marathoners, listen to some motivational speakers AND guiltlessly guzzle alcohol and pasta is just too good an opportunity to miss. We're looking forward to it, so thanks very much for the invite (presuming that you originated it. Cheers mate.
