Spring 09 - the run-up to Boston - Nick - 20-04-2009

I am watching the times too.

Seems like EG is going well. Now the hard part.

Spring 09 - the run-up to Boston - Sweder - 20-04-2009

Terrific to get these updates fellas. I'm stuffing myself silly in a Tuscan eatery, sucking down world-class Chianti in honour of The Man, desperate for news. Sport in the raw; great stuff!

Go El Gordo!

Spring 09 - the run-up to Boston - Peterward3 - 20-04-2009

Keep them updates coming. I am sitting here with sore legs from yesterdays 14 miler... :-) . Come on EG.

Oh god it's like that moment during Apollo 13 when the capsule goes behind the moon. Mission Control loses contact, the world holds it's breath . . .

Spring 09 - the run-up to Boston - Peterward3 - 20-04-2009

Apollo 13 this is Houston, do you copy....over....

Don't wish to jinx things, but looking damn good for a PB unless the wheels really come off.

Having said that, 30K is where the hills start, isn't it?

Spring 09 - the run-up to Boston - Peterward3 - 20-04-2009

The hills kick in from half way I think...

God Speed EG.

Spring 09 - the run-up to Boston - Sweder - 20-04-2009

If any man deserves a decent run it's EG in Boston.
Dig deep mate, bring it on home . . .

ps: on the coffees now. All out of Chianti Eek

Spring 09 - the run-up to Boston - Nick - 20-04-2009

35km time is 4:20:51

Boston site predicting finish time of 5:14.

Come on fella!

Spring 09 - the run-up to Boston - Sweder - 20-04-2009

Re-entering Earth's atmosphere . . . another horribly tricky stage. No visual contact, awaiting first crackle from intercom, followers huddled 'round the wireless . . . or in my case iPhone with appalling connection in deepest Italian rural backwater

Spring 09 - the run-up to Boston - Nick - 20-04-2009

I think EG's having a bit of a battle.

40 km in 5:04:45

Spring 09 - the run-up to Boston - marathondan - 20-04-2009

Still, come on EG! Less than a mile and a half to go, and still a great time in the offing...

Spring 09 - the run-up to Boston - Sweder - 20-04-2009

Eight weeks ago Boston was the impossible dream.
A finish on 2 legs of any sort would be a triumph unrivalled in these hallowed halls. He'll do it, if he has to cuss, fight and drag himself over that blasted line.

Spring 09 - the run-up to Boston - Antonio247 - 20-04-2009

5 hours 22 minutes. Well done, Andy! The dream has come true.

Spring 09 - the run-up to Boston - marathondan - 20-04-2009

WOOHOO, RAAH and also WOOT!

Brilliant result Andy, I hope nothing hurts badly enough to prevent you celebrating in style! Congratulations.

Spring 09 - the run-up to Boston - Sweder - 20-04-2009

Brilliant! Thank you Antonio! Gracias amigo!
Congratulations EG, hope you're all in one piece.
Enjoy the glow.

I can finally stop huddling in the one dark corner of this bloody room where I can get half a bar of reception . . . Mrs S is ready to call the medics . . .

Spring 09 - the run-up to Boston - Nick - 20-04-2009

Fantastic effort EG.

Well done mate.

True grit!

I had to nip out to pick daughter up from station, missed the most exciting bit.
