Almería Half Marathon, 28 Jan 2007 - Nigel - 05-02-2007

Smile I'd thought about those races in May, too.

But finally, I thought, ooh no - not me. Wink

I'm far too fat, and it'll be far too hot.
On the other hand - maybe I could just drink Guinness ?

Answers on a post-card, please.

Almería Half Marathon, 28 Jan 2007 - Ana - 05-02-2007

Hello!
I am doing it! I have already beginning… to run. I have run three days, first, 2Kms (15 minutes)...yesterday, 3 Kms (20 minutes). I do not want to break Andy’s rules. I think that I will follow… but I cannot today, I have neck-ache. Running is really hard. How do you do with a marathon? Ok, I hope, one day I will run my own Marathon as well…

Almería Half Marathon, 28 Jan 2007 - Sweder - 05-02-2007

Hola! Ana, and congratulations on your first steps on the running road. The answer to your question - how can we run a marathon when only a few kilometres are so painful - is simple; you take it one step at a time!

Good luck with the training. Hopefully you will get 'bitten by the bug' and soon be running 5k, then 10k . . . who knows? Maybe we will welcome you in Almería in 2008.

Regarding football teams I cannot speak for SP - he shows little interest in football (apart from the beer drinking side). For me Manchester United is my first love (since the age of seven).

Hola, Ana

Congratulations. It´s wonderful to see that you have taken up running and doing very well since most people can´t run for so long at the beginning. It would be great to run with you Almería half marathon next year. If you go on like this, you´ll probably beat some of us.

Best of luck Suerte

Antonio

Almería Half Marathon, 28 Jan 2007 - Ana - 05-02-2007

Dear Antonio, Sweder, Suzie, Niguel and Andy,
It's me who wants to say congratulations for having running the Almeria HM so good. Specially Andy, who has posted his brilliant report (I have loved it so much). Even if you were not in your best fit (that is normal after the plane and eating olives without being in the habit...) I just want to send you my admiration, because running so much is really brave. According to the good sense, I should try small races in Madrid and other small villages nereby, but I believe that next year I will never miss a so wonderful meeting in Almeria. Photos are fantastic. It is funny how many faces makes Sweder, he must be always jocking, isn't itBig Grin ? I hope I will be there too, even if it will be difficult to run so much... What happens if everybody is finish except me? Will organisators wait for me?????Rolleyes

It will be great to meet you at Almería half next year. Don´t worry about the time. I´m sure you can do under 2 hours 30 minutes but if it took you longer, the organisers will be waiting for you as well as all of us. Actually, this year a girl arrived in 2 hours 45 minutes and she got more claps than anybody else.

Go on with your training and best of luck, Ana!

Saludos desde Almería

Antonio

That's a little harsh on Andy, Antonio.
I thought he finished in great style Big Grin

Oh, nothing dramatic - don't get too excited. More a matter of doing away with stuff than adding too much. The site's been various things since we started in 2001, and we just want to get back to basics really.

That said, if you've got any thoughts......

Almería Half Marathon, 28 Jan 2007 - Mid Life Crisis Marathon Man - 07-02-2007

Congrats to all the Almeria heroes - great races, great reports, bloody ripper photos!

I'm off to sink a beer in your honour very shortly.

Big Grin

Hi Guys

Antonio, thanks for the info, I arrive on the 7th May unfortunately, I've just looked it up on google, you're right doesn't look far from me. I will have to remember it for next year, albeit looks tough. Might think about one of the others. Thanks for the kind words, some photos are out on the website, Andy good one of you.

Paul

Almería Half Marathon, 28 Jan 2007 - Antonio247 - 09-02-2007

It´s a pity that you can´t go, Paul. You would enjoy the race and the atmosphere. I´ve never taken part in it but I´ve heard it is worth doing. Anyway, I´ll keep you informed about any other races I learn about.

Regards

Antonio

Almería Half Marathon, 28 Jan 2007 - El Gordo - 01-04-2007

Just to let Glaconman know what to expect next year, and to remind SP how great the course is.....

Almería Half Marathon, 28 Jan 2007 - Antonio247 - 02-04-2007

It´s wondeful to see Almería half course so soon. It brings back so wonderful memories from the RC team here.

If UD Almería goes on so well, you may be able to watch Real Madrid or Barcelona at the Mediterranean stadium next year since UD Almería are the second in the league now with many points ahead the fourth and they are playing quite well.

Thanks for the map, Andy. Let´s hope that there will be a lot of forumites here next year.

Regards

Antonio

Eek so long? Eek

Antonio, could you please use your influences for designing a discreet shortcut in the way? (Just for SP and me)Big Grin

Ana, you can go up along avenida del Mediterráneo instead of going back along Avenida Cabo de Gata, la Rambla uphill and downhill and avenida Cabo de Gata again. That way you save around eight kilometres although you won´t appear as a half marathon finisher. Smile

Almería Half Marathon, 28 Jan 2007 - Ana - 04-04-2007

Ah, no, no, in that case I will do the whole way.
I want my title, of course. I am not training for nothingSmile

Almería Half Marathon, 28 Jan 2007 - PaulK - 05-04-2007

Greetings all

Antonio, now you tell us there was a short cut. Been a busy bee running wise, completed Wilmslow half marathon in 1.29.32 pleased about that I wanted to get under 1.30. I've just done Grizedale 10, in the Lake district last weekend it was one of the most hilly courses I've ever run, still managed a credible 68mins.

Back in Spain next month keeping my eye on the racing calendars out there.

take care all

Paul

Almería Half Marathon, 28 Jan 2007 - Antonio247 - 05-04-2007

Congratulations, Paul. You seem to be very fit. I did a half marathon last Sunday at El Pilar de la Horadada in the province of Alicante in 2 hours 4 minutes. http://WWW.pilardelahoradada.org I´ll write a report as soon as possible.

If you need help to decide on which race to take part in Spain in May, just tell me.

Regards

Antonio

RE: Almería Half Marathon, 28 Jan 2007 - Sweder - 01-04-2013

I've no idea how, or why, but I found myself in here this evening. A bit like Lucy, I wandered in looking for a place to hide (from appalling late night telly, in my case), brushed past a few old coats and ... here I am.
Great fun reading back through the banter. Halcyon days.
