St Eyots to Glibley Sheep Marathon - Mid Life Crisis Marathon Man - 19-04-2007

Thought I'd pass on this item from The Framley Examiner. More disturbing news I'm afraid from the world of ovine athletics:

Sheep Marathon Cancelled Again
The annual St Eyots to Glibley sheep marathon has been cancelled for the 50th year running due to growing pressure from angry Cloxted residents.
The route, which follows an almost perfect straight line between start and finish, traditionally meanders in the middle.
"The sheep have usually lost interest in the race by the time they reach Cloxted and graze", one race organiser said. "That's why we always have trouble with this event time after time. Maybe next year."

It's sad to see this cancelled yet again. Hopefully by raising a bit of awareness in forums such as Running Commentary we can put an end to this sad state of affairs. Sad
