Brooks Brighton 10 km - Antonio247 - 11-11-2007

I´m looking forward to this race next Sunday.

What forumites are going to take part in it?

Are there any plans for the previous day and/or the race day?

Greetings from Almería

Brooks Brighton 10 km - El Gordo - 11-11-2007

Hi Antonio

I'll be coming along but won't be taking part this year. Knackered knee.

Our plans are to be in Sussex the day before on in-law duty, then driving down to Brighton on the Sunday morning. The previous format was to have lunch after the race, and perhaps a beer or two. M will be around as she regards Brighton as a mecca for the shopping faithful.

Just remind me what your movements are...

Brooks Brighton 10 km - Antonio247 - 11-11-2007

It´s a pity that you won´t be able to take part in the race, Andy. Anyway, it will be a pleasure to meet you and M there. I hope you get better from your injury soon.

I´ll arrive at Gatwick airport at around 2:30 on Saturday and I´ll go to Brighton after that. I´d like to go to a pub in the evening and I´d also love to watch a film, such as Elizabeth I, before or after that. I´d also love to have a look at the Downs and the famous "snake" on Sunday if possible. My idea is to leave late on Sunday evening to London and take the coach or train to Stansted late so that I don´t have to spend too many hours at the airport since I´m coming back at 8 am.

It will be a pleasure to share some of these activities with all the people who feel like it.

Regards

Antonio

...and I know you know this.

But you need to get your arse in gear if you're training for an April in Boston.

Here's the link to Alfresco's - might be a menu on there somewhere.
I've booked a table upstairs for 8 - 10 people from 12:00 for 12:30 start.
It's never usually packed in there so if others want to come along they'll be more than welcome.

Depending on timing/ other plans I intend to nip into the pub to meet up with Gary, Julie et al after lunch (and to grab a crafty pint) Wink

The £13.50 Alfresco Salad here I come.... Big Grin Looks good.

Meeting at Sam's stall (Jog Shop stall under the overhang somewhere near the start) from 09:30 onwards tomorrow. It'd be nice to introduce some of the Almerian Squad to one another so we can wave at the quickies as they zoom past after the turn at King Alfred :o

Will see you at the JS stall from 9:30am onwards to say hi and good luck to everyone.

Hi Almeria gang.

It was good to pop in to Al Frescos and say hi to you all on the way to our dinner after the 10kSmile.

You definately made the right restaurant choice and thank goodness you didn't come along to Freemasons with usConfused.

About 40 hungry runners turned up and after placing out orders the food did not start to arrive until 90 minutes later. First we got 2 plates of lamb. Then 10 minutes later 2 plates of veggie, followed by another 2. Then another 10 minutes later 3 plates of beef followed by NOTHINGEekEek.

At this point it was 2 hours after ordering and people were starting to leave and the remaining hungry people decided to venture across the road to another restaurant to try and get dinner.

Gary and I were one of the lucky few getting fed but the portion did not satisfy my tummy so were ended up going to Tesco for fruit and dessert!!

We should have come to Al FrescoBig GrinBig Grin. Well done on your choice of restaurantSmileSmile .

Nice to meet you yesterday, LR. Really sorry to hear your experience. I did check out the other place on the web, and the reviews weren't great. It won't make you feel any better, but Al Fresco is a great place for lunch. The food is top notch, the service is quick, and there's just a very nice atmosphere in the place. Next year, eh? Wink

Brooks Brighton 10 km - ladyrunner - 17-11-2008

Next year sounds good EG. It's just a shame it wasn't this year as I really fancied a top notch meal after the runConfusedConfused.

Brooks Brighton 10 km - Sweder - 18-11-2008

Sorry to hear about the Freemasons LR. We almost switched but for some reason I didn't fancy pub grub and I'm pleased we stuck with the tried and tested place. I agree with El Gordo, the atmosphere and the food are excellent at Al Fresco. They also have an abundance of space early on. When we sat down at around 12 the place was empty; by 1 it was heaving with scarf-wrapped families and windswept lovers. A bit of advanced planning might be in order if we're to extend the head count next time.

OK, this is my first effort at this, so go easy on me.

SP's face at the end, when he realises that everyone's going for a beer, but he can't because he's still on probation.... Big Grin

Hey good one. If you hover over the clip, the button bottom right will open it up to full screen.

Good video EG! I can't imagine running and taking a video at the same time so I'm very impressed. Good seeing some familiar faces.

And congratulations to everyone on their race. Looks like it was a great day to run (and then to enjoy the beer after).Big Grin

Oh yes! Brilliant - it's fantastic to see a slice of RC life in the UK. Thanks EG!!

Brooks Brighton 10 km - ladyrunner - 20-11-2008

Good one EG. Spotted a few familiar faces in the video before the run started but couldn't see mine Smile

Priceless Big Grin

Must say the action footage made me feel a little sea-sick but overall it's a terrific tool. Definitely a step up from phonecams!
