Welcome to RC crazyone.

Well that's just cruel Julie - you have to give us a clue at least!

RE: Point to Pinnacle 2011 - crazyone - 29-06-2011

Thanks Julie, i didnt know it existed until i searched for this years point to pinnacle!

I am located in Launceston, about a two hour drive from Hobart. Tho im not much of a runner i love the challenge of the p2p and have done the last 6. I love that feeling of being able to look down at the casino and think "wow, what a view". The wanting to vomit and collapse isnt as much fun tho...Smile

Au contraire - you must be one helluva runner to have completed the last six! Stick around - you'll get to meet at least some of us around here in November.

Welcome to the fold!

This was what I heard on the grapevine. See you when you get back from Orlando then for some training runs Smile

RE: Point to Pinnacle 2011 - Mid Life Crisis Marathon Man - 07-08-2011

Some news ... MLCM Jr #1 is definitely also running this race, and MLCM Jr #2 is in training and declaring his intention to also run it ... in fact he successfully ran 30 minutes on an 11% incline yesterday which surprised the socks off all of us here at Chez MLCM.

This is turning into quite a crowd!

This is good news indeed Big Grin

I took a gander at the official P2P website today. Must say it's an impressive site; very welcoming and easy to navigate. Unlike the course.

Oh I don't know. It can't be that hard - there's only one hill. Rolleyes

RE: Point to Pinnacle 2011 - Seafront Plodder - 16-08-2011

I have three months to find my RC running vest.

That is all.

RE: Point to Pinnacle 2011 - Sweder - 16-08-2011

I have now picked a flight and applied for my visa.
Anyone know if you still need a criminal record to get in?
(love that old Ian Botham/ Aussie customs gag)

Why, is that a problem for you old man?

RE: Point to Pinnacle 2011 - Seafront Plodder - 17-08-2011

Well the Aussie authorities have looked me over, and deigned to grant a visa.

Flights are now booked. All that remains is for me to have a serious chat with myself about whether to enter the walk or the run. Confused

A few things to consider:

- Walkers can't run (you could be be disqualified if caught), but runners can walk.

- Walkers start an hour (7 a.m.) earlier than the runners.

- The cut-off time for runners is 3h 20m - still do-able if you walk, but it's a fast, tough walk. Walkers get 4h 20m (easy).

- You have to make your decision by Sept 19!

You'd certainly be able to run the first 10km I would think, which is not that steep, and walk the rest if necessary. Many others do that, so you wouldn't be alone, or in danger of missing the cut-off. That'd be my suggestion - enter as a runner and plan to run at least the first 10km which is not nearly so steep as the rest of the race.

Cheers! This is going to be great!

RE: Point to Pinnacle 2011 - marathondan - 17-08-2011

Sounds like good advice from MLCM. Or "Adopt a Walk/Run Strategy" as it is formally known.

And you still have three months - you can achieve quite a lot in that, assuming you have the inclination (see what I did there?) and the time.

RE: Point to Pinnacle 2011 - El Gordo - 19-08-2011

Come on guys -- spare a thought for the stay-at-homes.

What are your travel plans? Are you going to base yourselves in Tasmania, or Sydney? If the latter, how long before the race will you be there? How long after? How long before the race are you getting to Oz? Blah-blah!

RE: Point to Pinnacle 2011 - Seafront Plodder - 22-08-2011

MLC has put together an itinerary as tight as a drum, and I'm wondering if we will have time to fart. Big Grin

Sweder and I arrive in Sydney on 17th, and we all fly to Taz on 19th. P2P is on 20th.

There then follows 5 or so days of whizzing around following said itinerary, thence return (breathless) to Sydney on 25th.

I have a further 5 days to recouperate from heavy schedule Sad, Sweder I think leaves a little earlier to a work location - somewhere exotic probably.
