Hastings Marathon (100th Anniversary) - Avenging Hillman - 27-10-2008

Hello.
I seriously thought about this one, but when I found out it was in December, started to have my doubts as my legaroos aren't too springy in those winter (technically still Autumn, of course) monthsSad.

But I guess the weather can be ok in DecemberSmile.

But then it's a road raceSad, which isn't my favourite thing.

100th Anniversary things sounds nice thoughSmile and there's a fab medal on offer.

Then again, Hastings is a bit of a way for a 9.30 startSad.

But entry was closed so couldn't get in anywaySmile.

And now it's reopenedSad

And crowd support could be goodSmile.

Well done AH. After running JSJ and BH the course will seem like 26.2 miles down hill:RFLMAO:.

Did everyone receive their Hastings Marathon race number today? No shoe chip in my envelope. It looks like the race number is chipped instead.

Only 5 weeks to go now!!

Yes! Got mine too!
Two numbers in fact.
Well, one for front and one for back!Smile

Does look like a great event- with the history, that is.
Quite exciting!Smile

I wonder if runners in 100 years time will look back on us with the same sense of nostalgia in which we regard that pioneering crowd of 51 back in 1908?

Will you be wearing traditional 1900s running attire?Big Grin

Hastings Marathon (100th Anniversary) - ladyrunner - 09-11-2008

AH - I think that us girlies are safe to wear the latest lycra and thermal material running clothes as I'd be surprised if there were any ladies entered into the 1908 race.

But it would be good to see all you guys dressed for the occassion in 1908 running gears.

Photo attached of Dorando Pietri finishing the Olympic London Marathon in 1908.

And Stevio (our driver for the day) needs to take note of what his supporters costume needs to look like too!!

Say that type of comment in an arm's length of a woman and you are likely to get banged over the head hard with a hot frying pan:mad::mad:!!

Love the irony of your reply!!!:RFLMAO:

Hastings Marathon (100th Anniversary) - Sweder - 10-11-2008

Keep poking the bear Simon Big Grin

Hastings Marathon (100th Anniversary) - steepler - 10-11-2008

Dear god Simon. The ladies will bury you on the Downs if your not careful!

Hastings Marathon (100th Anniversary) - Gillybean831 - 10-11-2008

Poking the bear!!!
is there something your not telling us Simon:RFLMAO:

Hastings Marathon (100th Anniversary) - ladyrunner - 10-11-2008

Simon poking the bear - it doesn't bear thinking about!!! :RFLMAO:

Be very suspicious on that Sunday run when all the ladies turn out in force, and I'm carrying my frying pan, and Steepler's got a shovelRolleyes!!

Hastings Marathon (100th Anniversary) - Gillybean831 - 11-11-2008

I'll bring a very BIG stick:p

Hastings Marathon (100th Anniversary) - Sweder - 11-11-2008

'Poking the bear' is an abbreviated Americanism - 'don't keep poking the bear with that stick' is a euphemism for not antagonising someone - or something - that is already royally p*ssed off and might well do you irreprable harm if you continue.

Like I said . . . Big Grin

Hastings Marathon (100th Anniversary) - Gillybean831 - 11-11-2008

Where are you Simon?
Are you hiding?
