Poor old Simon Hughes; hounded out of the closet by the unpleasant hacks at The Sun. Frankly the issue of sexuality is a little passé these days, even for politicians. But we do seem to enjoy salacious headlines – I guess we get the press we deserve, although to be honest I’m far more upset by the infinite rewards offered to the duplicitous Swede than any titter-filled mutterings about politicians’ personal preferences. I’m left wondering what else can possibly appear to upset the already rickety Lib Dem apple cart.
