10 weeks today, SP. Time to start planning. Here's a bit from Hal to get us started:

See you in November.

Hurrah!

I'd hoped you had forgotten.

I'll need some new shoes first. Sweder does too and I've asked that he drags me along with him whenever he goes, and not take "no/I was only joking/sod off" for an answer.

Looks like he has forgotten though so it's not all bad news. Big Grin
As a couple of you here know, earlier this year my wife and I seperated.

Please, no sympathies needed. It was a mutual decision, quite amicable and as I'm sure Sweder will attest, I'm happier now than I have been in a fairly long while.

Anyroadup, around a month ago I found meself a new friend. Her summer sport is wakeboarding and she's looking for a winter activity to keep fitness levels up.

We have talked before about my modest marathon exploits, and last night over a drink she mentioned that she was a handy cross-country runner in her day.

It was then I made the ghastly mistake of mentioning the Brighton 10K and the training schedule that El G was kind enough to find. Well the upshot is that we have both committed to visiting Sam's Jog Shop emporium for shoes and sports bra (for both of us obviously Big Grin ) , and will start the training schedule together. Whether we'll make the 10K in November depends on a few things, and injury aside, it might be that the start line in Almeria is a more realistic target.

Unluckily for me, I don't think she's the sort of person to back out of a committment once made, so unless I can come up with something really cunning, I may be running again very soon.

I'm a complete bucket of lard at the moment but have no injuries, so we'll see. Eek
Hurrah for SP and his special friend!

You may be a "complete bucket of lard" but I'm the barrel version, I'm afraid. I'm trying to get worked up about the prospect of starting over, but I'm away on my jollies next week so I'm unlikely to get too enthusuastic till I get back.

The other caveat is that I'm seeing "Dodds the knee man" on Sept 27 who may well laugh himself off his chair when I raise the subject of running. If he says no, then... then I'll have to find another knee specialist.

But all being well, I'm also aiming for Brighton, even if it's just the gentlest of jogs.
I've seen a fair amount of SP lately - ooh err Missus! - and can attest to his recent happiness, not to menton a subtle yet discernable reduction in girth. If one were a bounder one might speculate that these two things might be connected . . . Big Grin

Thanks for the reminder.
After a fairly stern bowlacking from my physio over my decrepit footwear I too must visit Wise Sam. If only he lived by a river in India we could call him Sam Wise Gangees.
Sorry, I'll get me cloak . . .

Or if he marries a girl called Ella....etc. Sad
Well arrangements have been made to visit Sam's emporium tomorrow afternoon to swap great wadges of cash for some runners.

Can still squeeze into the shorts so come Thursday I'll definitely have no excuses.

My recent return to running enthusiasm was fed last week whilst staying at one of those country house hotels with a gym. With time to kill I thought I'd wobble away on the treddy for a few minutes to give the other gym users a laugh. Well bugger me if I didn't do 5k! Eek There were around 3 walk breaks to put my lungs back in and it wasn't pretty towards the end, but I was delighted with the distance considering my last run was getting on for 2 1/2 years ago now.
