III San Silvestre Almería

I have been quite lazy in writing lately although just the opposite in running.

My last race last year was the San Silvestre race in Almería on 26th December.. It was a two lap course along the main avenues in Almería. In all, 6 kilometres. When I got to the start at Colegio Compañía de María there were a lot of people around there, so I couldn´t see Manuel or Heather. I jogged a little towards the Rambla and met Felipe and Mario at the race start. There were some people dressed up, many people wearing a Father Christmas cap given with the race number.

Each lap was 3 km. There were many people cheering at paseo de Almería. I went at a 6 minute pace feeling well and even passing some runners in the last kilometre. It took me 35 minutes. In the second lap, I saw Manuel going down the Rambla, when I was going up. After getting to the finish, I went to give the chip and get the technical T-shirt, fruit and water. There I met my cousin Jorge who had taken part in a race for the first time. Later, I learnt that Heather had got a second prize in her category.
Antonio, good to hear that you have been busy running. It looks like a fun race from the photo. You finished in a decent time, so you must have been putting in a few kilometers in training!
Great to hear you're still running Antonio! 35 minutes for 6km isn't too shabby at all, so well done.

Do you have any races lined up for the rest of the year? Any running goals??
Muchas gracias, Dan and MLCM.

I´m feeling quite well lately. I´m training nearly every day and I´ve lost seven kilos since 10th January. I´m very glad because I´ve seen the digit seven - 79 kilos. I´ve found that going for a run every day is easier than training three or four days a week. I´ve managed to go for a run 19 consecutive days although some days just four or five kilometres. It has become a sort of routine to get up, go for a run, have a shower, etc.

I want to do 10 kms Puerto de Almería on Sunday 17th April and Albacete half marathon on 8th May.

Best of luck with your objectives, mates.

Saludos desde Almería.

I agree with you - running every day is easier than every second or third day, isn't it?

And well done on the weight goal - I'm also hoping to dip under 80 kilos - in my case for the first time in a very long time. Undecided Nearly there, too. I might even make it this week.

Your half marathon is a week before my first one for the year - looking forward to reading your race report!

All the best!
Hola Antonio

Esto es todo buenas nuevas. Buena suerte para las carreras. Espero que correr algunos buenos tiempos (pb's).
This is all good news. Good luck for the races. I hope you run some good times.

Good luck with your weight and half marathon objectives, MLCM!

It´s been a long time for me as well since I last weighed under 80 kilos.

Best wishes

Hear hear Jules; here's to a nice warm (but not too warm) flat run with a cool following breeze. I'll be thinking of you as I cheer on the Brighton warriors. Hasta pronto!

Sorry for being so lazy in writing and thanks for your interest, MLCM.

I did 10 kms del puerto. I felt quite well and finished in 53 minutes. Unfortunately, I got injured in my left ankle. So, I was a few weeks without training, which prevented me from taking part in the Albacete half marathon. However, I had done on 7th March Cartagena half marathon in 2 hours 8 minutes feeling much better than at Almería half where I did 2 hours 18 minutes. However, I had a wonderful time with the RC members who came here.

Best of luck with your next objectives, MLCM.

Good to get another race in the bank Antonio, even if you didn't make it to the half marathon. Is the ankle OK now? Are you back to training now?
Sorry, I meant my left calf. It is all right now, Dan. However, in summer I don´t run much. It is very hot here and I like resting in July and August. I usually go for a run just once a week or a fortnight very slowly. However, I ride on bicycle and swim in the sea or in an open air swimming pool. Unfortunately, I get tired soon since I can´t swim well.

Sounds like a good plan to me Antonio! Enjoy your running siesta my friend!

This seems to be a common theme! Is there anyone around here who is a good swimmer? Huh
