Reminds me of the time I rocked up to a smallish country town for a weekend uni workshop only to discover that the nearby airfield was host to the southern hemisphere's biggest ever airshow that weekend... I finally found a room 45 minutes away, but it cost an arm and a leg and I suffered lots of satanic mirth and derision from hotel/B&B staff.

Not my greatest effort at planning or forethought ever...
