OK, so it's Christmas Day. Do I care? Huh?
Just out from my first 3 hours of The Wire, with another 11 hours in my stash before I need go score again. Any fellow travellers? It's good shit, man.
Uh, this needs some explaining EG!
I've never heard of it. I must be living on the other side of the planet or something...
I don't think it's ever been on terrestial or mainstream satellite. A bit like Shawshank Redemption, it's been watched by far more people on DVD than in its original format.
My
Wire is
Dexter, the touching tale of a serial killer who happens to work for the Miami PD as a crime scene investigator specialising in homicide. The eponimous character is played by Micheal C Thomas, he of
Six Feet Under (the gay brother), to great effect. Season Two starts on ITV on Thursday - damned shame as I can't abide ITV and their regular shower of ad banality between and throughout programmes
Box sets appear to be the future.
I got one at Christmas from my son.

Tonight (Monday, 11 pm) the FX channel are running The Corner, a drug-culture ensemble piece based in Baltimore and written by David The Wire Simpson. The write-up is pretty good - set phasers to 'record'.
Also, anyone who missed the previous post from MLCMan might want to clik on the link - it's a belter.
Ha! Amazon delivered Series 2 of The Wire this morning. Am just off to dabble in Episode 1.
Will try to catch The Corner, though I have to be up at 6 tomorrow to get the early train into London, so will see how I go. (I don't have a recorder. Must get that sorted.)
I'll record it - if it's any good I'll keep it until after Boston when you're cordially invited to attend a Corner-fest
I've yet to find a way to burn this stuff, though no doubt it'll become available through some web-based entity or other at some point. I need Moyleman for this stuff- the man is a techno-genius - built his own system; it's blinding.
