Thanks very much for doing the research, Antonio

The Tryp Indalo sounds good to me. Advance payment is no problem. Let's wait to hear what Ash has to say.

Am beginning to look forward to the weekend now.

Hurrah!

Big Grin
Wish I could come.Sad
Hey Andy, Antonio - I'm up for that - sounds like a Tryp Big Grin
SW, like it says on the T-shirt - Just Do It!

. . . I know, I know, a thousand reasons not to.
Just thought I'd taunt you a bit . . .
It´s great to see you both so happy. I don´t know if I´ll be able to keep your pace, Andy, since I´ve seen that you´re training very hard doing 14 miles easily. I think that you can get a PB here in Almería.

Shall I book a room with breakfast or just the room? I phoned the travel agent´s and they told me that for 55 euros it included the buffet breakfast. You´re going back to London on Tuesday morning, aren´t you?

Don´t worry about paying in advance. I´d do it myself if I can´t get the special offer directly with the hotel and you can pay me when we get to the hotel.

It´s a pity that you can´t come this year either, Stillwaddler. It would have been good as a test for London and a good chance for us to meet you.

Regards

Antonio
Sad Sigh
Not another PB Andy.
Tut. I suppose we'll have the celebrate . . . Wink

Ha ha! Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Big Grin Ah, that's a good one, Antonio.

I'm confident of getting round the distance without suffering a coronary, but I'm doubtful about a PB. I'm not thinking of that at the moment -- my training pace recently has been terrible. I'll see nearer the time.

Let's go for the Tryp Indalo then. In fact, I've already booked and paid. I had a look at a few sites, including some UK ones, but I couldn't beat the 48 euros which I found here: http://www.solmelia.com/solNew/hoteles/j...Hotel=0407

I thought I might as well book it and pay for it while I was at it. Sweder - you may want to do the same. It will save you the hassle, Antonio. Thanks for the advice. I've booked just the room at the moment, and can decide on breakfast in situ. It works out at about £105 for 3 nights which is pretty good.

Right, that's sorted. My main problem now is getting to Gatwick Airport by about 5.30 a.m...... Eek
Cool beans - I'm off to book in now.
I agree - excellent value, and if the hotel turns out to suck deluxe we'll all be round to crash on your couch, Antonio. Yep, booking confirmed.

Ha ha, only joking . . .

. . . I'll kip in the bath.
As usual. Big Grin

Bath? Shouldn't that read "bar"?
Well, I hope you will enjoy your stay there. I´m looking forward to meeting you at the airport.

I´d go to Gatwick airport late at night on Friday in order not to oversleep and miss the plane. Ir reminds me of the evening when you took me to Reading station to take a train to Gatwick airport. Time went by faster than I thought and I checked in quickly.

Good luck!
Antonio - you like to punish yourself the day before a race. I remember your very long bus trip to Madrid the day before the marathon. And didn't you make a long bike ride to a half marathon last year?

No, I am NOT going to sleep at Gatwick airport! But the in-laws live close by, so will probably negotiate a cheap room rate with them.
If all else fails you are most welcome to overnight at Chez Sweder.
Smile Upside: 30 minutes from LGW
Eek Downside: awoken by hounds licking your face (or Mrs S if she likes you) and potential for a disasterous night out in Harveystown with me (and maybe SP) 48 hours before a race . . .

OK, OK . . . inlaws it is . . .
Thanks for the offer Sweder, but I'll probably aim for the quieter option. The local station is only 4 minutes from Gatwick, apparently. And anyway, I'm on a strict no-booze policy until the race. Eek
I'm not up to a half marathon at the moment so don't even ask! But I'm toying with the idea of tagging along as team RC Coach - just to fine tune your preparation and to ensure you don't over indulge pre-race!!
Would be great to have you along, Andy.
Very cool news, SP.
We definately need a Social Director for aprés race celebrations (and someone to carry us home afterwards Eek ). Hope you can make it.
Reading about the trip makes me want to join you guys in Almeria. It'll be another wonderful weekend and nice having the extra day on the end. And if you go SP I'll be even more jealous!

While you guys are running the half marathon I'll be doing a 20 mile training run. Speaking of which, SP - aren't you training for London?

You'll have to have an omelete de espanola again (probably spelt it wrong). The food there was just so delicious! If only Canada wasn't so far away...

Suzie
Be prepared to be jealous Suzie....

I'm going. On same flight and hotel as the real athletes here...err, in my capacity as cameraman, coach, nutritionist and post-race - first-round buyer!

I'll post something soon in my diary as to why I won't be running, and indeed why London is now just a glint on the horizon...Sad

Booooooo!
Crikey! Best get off to Waitrose and order extra ice for my spare liver . . .
What a wonderful piece of news! AndySP is also coming. If you like, you can do the half marathon on my mountain bike.

Come on, Nigel, anímate a venir también. Come, Nigel, as well.

It´s a pity that Suzie and M can´t come but we´ll have you and Nigel if he can´t come either in mind and we´ll have some wine and some tortilla or paella to your health.

By the way, shall I book a table at the same restaurant as last year for the meal after the half marathon?

Saludos desde Almería

Antonio
