just a test
Just checking out some stuff.

Hi All

Please see http://www.runningcommentary.net/forum/s....php?tid=2

This will take a while to sort out, but I've now moved over to something called myBB which is free, and actually quite nice to use.

Please let me know if you have trouble logging in or working something out.

ISSUES

Missing threads (e.g. SP's marathon feats) -- I'll see if I can import the threads that went AWOL a while ago.

Avatars -- Looks like we'll have to re-add avatars.

Joined -- Looks like our "Joined" date defaults to today. I'll see if I can sort this out.
Update - I think this is just an admin problem, so ignore

Check permissions

FOR THE TIME BEING YOU CAN STILL SEE THE OLD FORUM AT http://www.runningcommentary.net/forum_vb/

Cheers

Andy

Well I was going to type something about my marathon exploits going missing, but have noticed that hitting the reply button appears to quote the previous post. Not sure that should happen. Sad

...and I don't appear to have permission to post in some forums either.

All good - not sure I like the cutsie icons but hey, I also like picking nits ...

Question: will this make me less like a barrel of lard?
(Didn't think so)
Can't respond to MLCMan's slightly potty post re: cricket.
I'm not allowed to apparently Huh

Mine's black ...
Looking great from where I'm sitting, EG.

The things people will do to stimulate some activity on the forum, eh? Wink
Will we be any more susceptible to bot attack here than the old place?

Why can't I select any of those cute icons I see at the top of the posting window? I want to attach the green bug but the "no icon" toggle is locked.

And again
Well. I managed it.

First I changed the title of the thread, then chose an icon.

It may be that only the thread originator can choose. Or it may be a permissions thing. I'll investigate. But not now. I'm rapidly going nuts under pressure of work. Incidentally, I am supposed to be on holiday this week. Angry

Hey -- where did those familiar looking smilies come from? Confused
To reply without quoting, click "New Reply".

To reply and quote, click the Reply button above it, on the tool bar. If you mouseover it, it does say "reply with quote".

Re posting permissions, tell me which forum you're having trouble with.

No more susceptible, I hope but evidently not much less susceptible.
EG, I've just discovered the best feature of the new software!

I just click the button at the bottom, and I can get every new post delivered to my feed reader!

Well done Tom, on a hearteningly accurate use of the word "anticipate". It's one of the most annoying misused words in the language; a victim of the urge many have to prefer a posh sounding word over something simpler. Anticipate doesn't mean "expect", despite the worst impulses of the barbarian hordes.

And by the way, I haven't forgotten about the LC CD. If you mail or PM me your address, I'll try to remember to..... do whatever it was I said I would do.

Glad to see that RSS has cheered you, Dan. I love the idea of RSS; I set up feeds but rarely check them.

Thumbnail I reckon. Avoids breaking up the text too much.
